Accurate Weather Forcast

For the past 2 years at KRBC I have given accurately forecasted information out to the people of the Big Country. I use current data as well models such as GFS, NAM, RAP and ECMWF to create my forecasts. I create new short range as well as a 7-day plan for the region. Using knowledge of weather patterns and an understanding of how atmospheric systems behave, I can create a forecast that people can depend on.

Severe Weather Tracking

Tracking severe weather is one of the most crucial parts of a forecaster's job. It involves releasing accurate information out promptly to those that need it the most. I have practiced calmly and efficiently relaying important severe weather information through not only social media, but also by determining when it is vital to cut into pre-scheduled programing. This also entails working unconventional and extended hours when needed, all while managing to stay cool and collected for the sake of the viewer.

Effective Communication and Broadcasting

No matter how important or impactful a large shift in weather will be, people will not be prepared unless they can understand what is going to happen. That is where I shine though. I have extensive skill breaking down the forecast into easy to understand portions, and explaining just how people are going to be impacted. If an area of low pressure will be stalling just north of the region, I will be able to explain to the viewer how their week will be affected and which days might need an umbrella.
